I'm a 53 yo, 300 lb. cauc male with type II, insulin dependent for about 3 yrs. I just recently noticed some numbness in me big toes. I've not noticed any problems with soles of feet, but have recently noticed a burning sensation that is on the top of my feet and going up the front of my legs to about half way to my knees.

I am quite fairly inactive and realize that exercise and weight loss would help my situation tremendously and am working on that. But right now I'm pretty concerned about this foot/leg problem.

I do have some slight swelling in feet and legs at times and have even thought in terms of heart failure, but was just wondering if anyone had experienced the same problem.

I think you have a diabetic problem and probably not a heart problem. You need to go to your doctor immediately. There are potential treatments for your problem. But, only if they get to it soon enough. The longer you wait, the more damage there will be. So go to your doctor. GO, GO, GO!

I have just gone through the exact same thing recently. It was diagnosed as peripheral neuropathy. The good news is that it is relatively slow moving and people with diabetes have a high cure rate. You need to see a competent neurologist immediately. The testing is very simple. As Robert said GO GO GO. Relief is in sight for you.
