Hi,

I am new to this forum, and very interested in any opinions or comments on my situation.

After years of terrible back pain, the finally did a MRI to see what was going on. They found I had a ruptured disks, (not exactly sure which one but I know that it is my lower back) They are basically treating it with some crazy pain pills, muscle relaxers, and neurontin. (and of course my elavil at night)

Back around Christmas time, I noticed my left foot (actually toes) were turning purple. (a couple of my toes are starting to look "dead") At first I thought it was frostbite, but it continued for months. I have lost feeling in most of my foot. (I can feel pressure, but I have no touch sensation, can't feel cold or heat either)

To make a long story short, the doctor finally ordered an EMG, where they found out I had Sciatic Neuropathy. I have a basic idea what neuropathy, but I really don't have a good understanding of it.

If anyone has any insight of what I am talking about, I would appreciate any information. I was also wondering if my ruptured disk was causing the neuropathy or it is a seperate problem.

What is the treatment for the neuropathy. I know that the doctor was basically told me I have to quit my job, because of my long commute to work.(a hour and a half each way) I know that solution sounds easy for a doctor to say, but I have 5 kids to support. Anyhow, enough of my whining. Thank you for listening and I hope you all have a great night.
