I have endured many years of pain due to kidney surgery that I had. The dr. removed a rib and subsequently damaged nerves in the process. I have finally found a great doctor who has done wonders in treating me. I'm going to have a procedure done in November of this year to "burn" the nerves and hopefully completely alleviate the pain for many months. My question is, Has anyone had this done? How successful was it?
I don't know the exact name of the procedure but as I understand it, this is how it goes:
My back will be numbed and I'll be sedated, he will make a lesion and actually see the nerve and burn it with heat. This is suppose to destroy the nerve and hopefully stop the growth. This is our goal anyhow.
I also understand that this may need to be repeated in the future. I'm willing to go through this due to so many years of pain and I've been getting pain shots every month to lessen the pain. These shots are not pleasant and also have side effects. So needless to say, I'm excited about getting long term relief.
If anyone has had this done, please respond. I'd like to get some feedback on what to expect and what results have been like.
Thank you!!
