ten years of pelvic, hip, low back pain. Caused by a traumatic childbirth.

Lots of misdiagnoses, dead ends, psychiatric referrals, you all know the drill...

Last four years in physical therapy for pelvic floor tension myalgia (dx'd at Mayo) and SIJD, piriformis syndrome. They finally stabilized my SI joint and...drum roll....my symptoms WORSENED!!!!!

So. New search for new docs. New theory: a doc says he's seen people like me before and the problem is not coming from the back, but from ilioinguinal nerve entrampment, impingement or an undetected hernia.

He noted that I have an old laparotomy scar, a honking one as a matter of fact, that, in his words 'clearly invaded the inguinal canal'. His thought is that scar tissue from that could have shifted during the traumatic delivery and started this whole mess.

He did a lidocaine injection on me last week. It was really, really nice for a couple of hours. I can't say that my pain was gone, but it subsided substantially. Does that mean he is right? What do I do next?
