I have been suffering from with neuopathy for 18 months now. I found out in January I am Diabetic Type 2. My question to you out there is with your neuropathy do you experience muscle tremors at times? Last night I could feel a "kicking" sensation in my left calf. I have little "vibrations" and "twitches" throughout the day. It is very annoying and was wondering if this is just part of the crazy world of PN or maybe I have a couple of things going on.

twitching, spasms, creepy crawling, tickles, and all sorts of odd sensations are connected to the neuropathy. i haven't a clue why but maybe someone who has more knowledge than i do will stop in and explain some of it if it is possible to explain.

I would check with my doctor and see if you had either restless leg syndrome and/or PLMD (periodic leg movement disorder). They are different. What you are describing sounds more like the first. They can give you something like Klonopin (Clonazepam is the generic form) at night. If it is PLMD then something like Requip can treat that. They usually will give you a sleep study to determine which it is.
Since there are other conditions that may have similar symptoms, you need to see your doctor and if they agree then have them schedule a sleep study for a diagnosis.

I have been diagnosed with neuropathy for 6 months now. If I flex my toes and fingers while at rest in bed the next thing will be the twitching of the toes fingers and face. I've had the nose wiggle, lip wiggle, arm flinging, after awhile you just gotta laugh at it, what else can you do. One time while at a stop light it felt like someone knocked the wind out of my midsection, very weird.
Happy holidays to all

 Dear April,
I have the twitching in my right leg, trunk of my body, left sholder and face. I keep track of it when laying in bed and feeling it at night and in the mornings. I have the infamous "cryptogenic Neuropathy". The hot prickling pain in my feet, legs, hands and arms head and face is sometimes more than I can bare.
My GP just took another blood sample and sent me a result of "elevated muscle enzyme". I can't imagine what that might mean. Any clue???
I'm in the workmans comp maize now. I was taken out of work for Neuropathy exaserbated by a secondary of Post Tramatic Stress Disorder. And after seeing my Neuro for 4 years and he's been a Neuro for 30 years, the orthopedits my work place sent me to has decided it's all due to my neck in 30 minutes. Amazing.
Hang in there and I'll be waiting to hear from you.
Cathy ;)

;) I was given Tizanidine for the twitching and it has helped a lot. I read that it's for suffers of MS although my MRI showed negative of any scaring in the brain at this time. I'm wondering now if it will make a difference in the muscle enzyme levels from my last blood test.
Best of luck to you.
Cathy

 I had an MRI done and all that was detected was that my sinuous were congested! I was lucky they found a brain. But yes I guess one would always worry about MS or we wouldn't be human.
I thought that the new medication helped the twitching, but it hasn't. Yesturday while trying to take a nap the muscles in my back twitched so hard from my waistline to my neck it jerked my head backward. It didn't hurt but it was sure a strange sensation.
I see the Co. Dr. On Monday, my Neuro on Thurs. and my Soc. Worker on Friday. I'm wondering when they'll decide I'm ready to meet the dragon (my boss) again. Having been off 3 months has been so wonderful.
Waiting to hear from you April and Happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Cathy

Hello Cathy...
I am new here, and this is in fact my first post. I hope you don't mind me jumping right in. :)
I have suffered from restless leg syndrome until recently. I also have type II diabetes, as well as lupus, high blood pressure and thyroid troubles. Three years ago I had a stroke, but I am doing well from that now.
My rhuematologist recently put me on Mirapex for the restless leg syndrome, and it has been wonderful. I was at the point where I could not keep the leg from jumping, and I would literally watch the clock go round and round at night. Although I still have the pain from the lupus to contend with, this is allowing me some rest.
I take neurontin too...for the tingling that I have leftover from the stroke and some "unknown" tingling on the left side of my face.
I hope that you find some answers soon.

I had RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) long before neuropathy. I suspect that you too might have RLS. There are other boards that can be found that talk specifically about RLS. I have tried prescriptions for both my ailments, but with not much relief.
My next step is acupuncture. I have been suffering with my polyneuropathy for about 6 years now and the constant pain is just wearing me down.
