I developed problems with balance and numbness in my hands and feet about a year ago. Symptoms started on and off at first and then became constant about 6 months ago after a bad cold. Initial symptoms started with an ear infection where I was prescribed an antibiotic. The following is a list of symptoms I have:

1) A feeling of being off balance when walking. It is like my feet do not respond properly to my brain.
2) Numbness, tingling, burning, and cramps in hands/feet
3) Optical migraines prior to year ago which have stopped
4) Periodic optical cloudiness on awakening
5) Tinnitus on awakening
6) Double/blurry vision when driving in bright sun
7) Suface numbness on temples and cheeks especially when driving
8) Fluourescent lights and bowel movements seem to be a trigger
9) Dullness in my head. Feels like my brain is not fully working especially the front part.
10) Low back pain (attributed to arthritis)
11) Neck pain
12) Excess sputum

Went to doctor and he did head MRI/MRA and both were okay. Lower back xray showed slight arthritis. Routine blood tests okay. He sent me to an Opthamologist who did eye exam and everything ok. Blood pressure was a little high (170/110). Doctor prescribed a diuretic and beta-blocker. They almost killed me. The side effects of the pills made things worse. I went on low salt/sugar diet and lost 40 pounds. I also have increased my exercise and got back into shape. Blood pressure now consistently below 120/80 without pills.

Things I have thought of are:

Hypoglycemia (Diagnosed as borderline 30 years ago)
Vitimin B deficiency
MS
Inner ear/vestibule problem
Yeast infection
Reaction to antibiotic/migraine pill
Mercury in fillings

I need help in identifying and curing what I have. It is significantly affecting my daily life. Doctors are of little help. Does anyone have similar symptoms or any suggestions on what is causing them?

Thanks
Jim

Did you have your thyroid checked? Thyroid problems have an impact on every cell in your body. The problem with this is doctors don't always do that simple blood test to figure that out. Ask your doctor for a TSH, fT3, fT4 and antibodies test. This is done with a simple blood test. Good luck.

Has anyone looked at the possibility of Ataxia?
