Hi alazay.
I know exactly how you feel! I have been terrified of the demon dentist for years. ( apologies go out to all you dentists out there!lol!)
I used to be put out for any treatment, then, here in the UK they banned most dentists from doing that.
I then had to take large doses of tranx to cope, (I have had a huge ammount of work done).
Now I am waiting to see an orthadontist to have some more treatment.
people just assume that we are just a little afraid of our dentists, well if that were true I wouldn't be sat here with toothache, again!
my advise is to do what you can to cope, meds, hypnotherapy, anasthetic!lol!
good luck to you! and please don't feel silly having this fear, after all they don't exactly do nice things to us do they?lol!
Jules :D

Oh Mate I am sooooo terrified of dentists too. I am 29 and have been about 4 times in my whole life. last time was 6 years back to get a teeny filling. I hate them(sorry dentists) I hate the idea of things going in my mouth which I can't control. It all started when I was a child and the dental nurse split my mouth with the clamps to hold it open. she was mean and nasty and didn't stop when I told her it hurt. so I thought all dentists are horrible people who love to hurt me.

I am terrified of hospitals too and dying. I have to get my wisdom teeth taken out soon but I am sooooo scared of it. I am also scared of the drugs to knock me out. So I know how you feel buddy.

you take care,
Lolly

Im teffified of the dentist too because of some traumatic surgery on my mouth i had when i was little. Now they have to sedate me to even do small capings or fillings.

Hugs,
Elijah

I am not phobic about going to the dentist except if I have to be numbed for something. I can't stand the thought of seeing the needle so I always remind the dentist that I will close my eyes and to please tell me when the needle is out of the range of my visual field so I can open my eyes again. The needle stings a little and my heart pounds while this is going on because I know there is a needle in my mouth but I am OK after the needle part is over with and I don't have to worry about seeing it. Other kinds of needles don't bother me like that - just the one the dentist uses. I have been going to the same dentist for years and I am sure he remembers about the "needle problem" with me but I always remind him anyway. I am not like that if I get a shot or have my blood drawn - just that little needle the dentist uses. Weird, huh?

Hi alazay. I have the same problem. I'm only 24, but haven't sought dental attention in 8 years. My worst fears were confirmed when I did go 2 weeks ago. It's gonna cost me about $6,000 to amend what 8 years of neglect did. Did you tell the dentist or hygenist of your phobia?

Yes, I went to the dentist and had to be put to sleep for two root canals and a cavity! Now one of my caps fell off, and I am to scared to even get that put back on!
