Hi Kathy

I have the exact same problem. I hate it....my fingers look so gross. I have posted all over the place asking advise, and so far people are telling me to have fake acrylic nails put on. The fake nails are thicker than natural nails, which makes it tough for you to start picking at the skin.
I havent had time yet to have the nails put on, and to be honest, I am embarreses to show anyone my hands. Just last night I attacked my left thumb, and it is so raw, I cant imagine having someone touch it.
I will go next week, and post my results!
Good luck!!

hello Nj

thanks for your your answer. Its good to hear
that Im not the only one with this problem.
Have you ever realized in which situation
you biting your cuticle,I often didnt notice
that im biting or picking, this sometimes really
scares to me,quit recently in my school
i remarked when I must played a role,i started to bite
my thumb cuticle, sure on account of nevousness, anyway
my nervousness were dissapeared when I felt pain
in addition with blood.
I would describe it as like a facilitation
Think its a good idea wearing some fake nails
possibly the only way to stop with biting or picking your cuticle
othersites I cant afford it right now,and asking my parents
is not my busuiness,my mother would ask me why i need those fake nails
im starting now with saving, that I probably can buy it next month
Im yet excited about your report, weather they were succesful for you or not
have a nice time,see ya
best regards
Kathy

Have you two tried searching other boards for suggestions on how to stop nail biting? Picking and biting are not exactly alike, but the two have similar components, and people often find that what works for one also works (or helps) for the other.

Good luck! :)

Again, I'm glad i'm not the only one doing this. I've bitthe skin around my nails for a long time and often until they become bloody. I have thus far passed it off as a "nervous habit", but, come on, enough is enough, anyone know why or how to stop or if this is a part of some anxiety-related OCD symptom?
