Im just wondering if anyone else here got ocd after having a baby? I have always had a anxiety problem, but it wasn't until my second baby that I started having intrusive thoughts. I am on Zoloft, and doing pretty good, with the help of therapy and alot of reading. When I first started getting these thoughts, I thought for sure I was going nuts.

I can relate to the intrusive thoughts. Although, I have not had a baby. Did the Zoloft put an end to the intrusive thoughts? Take care.

I had major ppd after my first was born and did have some OCD symptoms although I was never formally diagnosed. OCD runs in my family and my dad and sister have it but mine was never as extreme as their cases. Mainly I checked household items like stove, coffeemaker, etc. thinking I might accidentally burn the apartment up, and obsessed about a) not waking up the baby when she was asleep, b) people touching or breathing on her, which I was sure was going to give her some disease and kill her; and c) SIDS. When I was finally put on medication for the depression (at 1 yr postpartum) and it was resolved, the OCD-type traits went away too.

Can relate to the intrusive thoughts, mine are very bad right now, i am going for therapy tomorrow.. wish me luck! I've also had anxiety/depression problems for about 4 years but the intrusive thoughts started about a year or so ago. I know how horrible they are. Am i the only one that fears i do something bad to loved ones? I feel like a nut case too, I dont understand why i have them? If i get one i obsess over it in my head. anyone relate?
