help 01-12-2001, 02:44 PM . [This message has been edited by help (edited 08-05-2003).] alazay 01-12-2001, 10:35 PM It sounds like you might have ADD. I don't think that ADD and Depression have the same symptoms. Maybe if you are a little child, but not at your age. It is possible you might have both. FaultyLogic 01-15-2001, 04:33 PM Yes, depression can cause symptoms similar to ADHD. Treat the depresson first. jude 01-26-2001, 04:48 PM have you thought of bi-polar disorder? help 01-27-2001, 04:24 AM does this sound like bi-polar? i thought bi-polar disorder is when you are at a real low one day then the next you are sooo irrational and energetic you are away doing something really crazy . example you pull all your money outta your bank and take off to no where but dont know what your gonna do when you get there... pert 01-29-2001, 08:48 PM Originally posted by help: I think i may be depressed although i think imay also have ADD ive never done good in school im 22 and its hard to read without my mind CONSTANTLY wondering.... Is this Add or Depression... I know im not a stupid guy if i could just coprehend the material im trying to read but i never can . My mind always wonders and i am always "skimming" through material to just coprehend punch lines or "main ideas" and i want to be able to read an entire chapter from beginning to end and be able to understand it well.... Is it possible that depression can render the same results as ADD ? i wouldn't panic. it could be anything. let me tell you, many of us all go through periods where we cannot concentrate on reading.and it may well be depression related. if you are distracted by something other than the reading ie if something else is bothering you, you won't be able to focus on the reading. you say that you cannot finish a chapter though. it may be that you aren't enjoying it,or feeling you have to "endure" it ....this may be something that you feel you have to do. that can also be a sign of depression. this can also be anxiety related. lukec 01-30-2001, 12:33 PM Originally posted by help: I think i may be depressed although i think imay also have ADD ive never done good in school im 22 and its hard to read without my mind CONSTANTLY wondering.... Is it possible that depression can render the same results as ADD ? I feel exactly as you do. Yes the symptoms can be intertwined. I know how it is everday to read a whole paragraph and only remember small details,, words,, Even reading a sentence, I have to read the sentence a hundred times before I can understand what it is saying. Sometimes I skip over words,, it is very frustrating,, do you think my add meds could be causing this? My eyes moving faster than my thoughts ? lukec@mail1st.com http://carterandcompany.iuma.com Lynne123 02-06-2001, 12:15 PM A non-evasive idea might be to get the books you need to read on tape. You can read long with the tape playing. It helps for comprehension. I know there is an organizaion that puts most required reading books on tape along with many textbooks. They will put any book on tape for you, but it could take some time. I will find out the name of the company and post later. Some libraries and bookstores have a lot of books on tape or can be ordered. smackliet 02-13-2001, 12:57 PM Bi-Polar has mood swings but they are not from one day to the next usually, it is more like a long bout with depression a slow gradual rise back to normal and then either back to depression or an up swing could be anger or a feeling that every thing is wonderfull and you are brilliant. the moods can be minifest in many ways. An up swing does not always meen happy up just means intensity it can be a feeling of intense need to escape or suicide. This is just a couple examples of a manic episode. Often ADD or ADHD are misdiagnosed in children when they turn out to actually have bi-polar, and sometimes they go together, like in my son. |
