Hey everyone, I'm a 23 year old working his first real job out of school. I've been fine for quite a while now (eating well, healthy, etc no problems) but recently, I've developed a fear of yacking after eating meals in public (anywhere outside of home). I remember having episodes of this weird fear back when i was younger, but I got over it. Now its back. I'm almost positive its purely psychological, but is there anything i can do? other than repeatedly telling myself nothing is gonig to happen? This is really bothering me and is inhibiting me from being the social/party animal i was just a few weeks ago. Thanks again

I had a problem similar to yours. It was never a feeling of throwing up after eating, though, just a feeling of throwing up in public. I think it started when I was in the 5th grade and threw up in front of my class. Ever since then, I'm always aware of how my stomach feels. The feelings I have have faded away in the past few years but once in a while, I'll catch myself trying to figure out if I'm sick or not, which I'm usually not. I really do think it's all in my head since I haven't thrown up since that day 13 years ago lol.

Thanks for the reply. I'm almost positive its all in my head, which totally sucks! Anyone know any tactics or ways to self-hypnotize yourself? haha

I kind of think this is relatively common. My girlfriend got sea-sick on a cruise once and now whenever we are planning on getting on a boat she is like sea-sick before we ever board. Just realize it is all in your head (as you have) and believe that eventually you'll realize you aren't going to puke and it'll fade away.

It's amazing what the mind can do ie...make you sick when you're not.
