My mind is constantly racing. It drives me crazy! Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and my mind is just going so fast that I can't go back to sleep. It feels like not just one stream of thought, but more like an eight lane freeway in my head. It is so overwhelming and so hard to tune out. Sometimes I turn on the TV to try to drown out all my brain activity, but it only helps minimally. I have a very hard time focusing on anything when this is happening, and it occurs very frequently.
I am 20 weeks pregnant and don't take my meds anymore except a small dose of Prozac, but before I was on Ritalin and that seemed to help me think more clearly. I was just wondering if other OCD'ers experience these sort of relentless racing thoughts, and if you've found anything to help with it. I would appreciate any feedback.

Hi sweetbelky, sorry to hear what you are going through. I also have a hard time controlling my racing thoughts, especially when I was pregnant. There was nothing, I found, to help (while I was pregnant) stop the thoughts except, like you said, trying to tune them out and get focused on something else.
BUT, I do remember the farther along in my pregnancy, the easier it got. Once you get to the part of the pregnancy when you are just tired all the time, it gets alot better and alot easier especially to relax.
Just a thought...I would talk to someone about starting your medications as soon as you can though (after the baby is born), because post pardum depression with OCD is not fun.

Although i've never been pregnant since im male, i suffer from constant 30 lane racing jet stream activity...i usually calm down with music, maybe because it's just one of my passions and i've always loved laing down with my eyes closed just hearing music and singing for myself...
I even say that it's the only thing i know that it is always there for me, my only trusted friend... :)
Right now i'm hearing a band from Denmark called Mew with great sounds to just cool down this motor...
Conforting Sounds by Mew or Mica ( also by Mew ) are two of my favourites...but i guess it's just a question of personal tastes...think about something you always loved to do and do it... Anyway i hope you'll get better.
