I went to the doctors today and he put me on new meds...Zoloft. The only thing I really know is what Ive seen on the commercial. Anyone care to give some experiences? I hate being put on new meds. Always makes me nervous. And has anyone taken it along with Xanax? Thanks.

I'm on Zoloft 50mg/day. It works well for me to suppress panic attacks, but it took awhile to kick in for me (about a month). It doesn't do anything for my overall level of tension. My muscles are still very tight, etc. Especially in my neck and shoulders.

The good thing is I had zero side-effects. Maybe a slight loss of appetite (which isn't a bad thing for me).

Good luck with it!

That is exactley what the doctor prescribed to me. Unfortuantely, I am not able to stay on it right now.

I was taking Zoloft 100mg (1 in the morning) and Xanax (as needed), the Zoloft kind of made me...numb to the world at first, so I stopped taking it after 2 weeks (without telling my doctor of course), then I noticed how noisey and disruptive my thoughts were all the time and started back on the medications after a few days. I never noticed how badley they disrupted my life until I stopped taking my medications. Anyway the Xanax helps alot to calm you down, I took it mostly right before bed so I would be able to sleep.

I never had any side effects, except when the Zoloft first started taking effect and I didn't really care about anything. Right now, if I had the meds I would definatley take them again, even though I feel much more alive right now with out them. The ups and downs are killing me slowly right now though.

I'm taking 50mg of Zoloft too and it does wonders for me. I also didn't get much side effects and it took about a month to kick in. I think it helped me alot with my intrusive thoughts even though I've heard that it's a very low dose for people with ocd. Has anyone heard of that? Just curious, but I hope this works out for you. Take care!!

Well last night was my first night with the Zoloft and it didnt go so well. I havent slep that bad in a long time. I was restless and my husband said I kept crying out in my sleep. Im hoping it had nothing to do with the meds.

I took zoloft and did not have good results. My doctor says when you first take it your anxiety increases so thats why they give you lots of xanax with it. Then, after a few weeks, the anxiety is supposed to decrease. I could not get through the first few weeks though. Ive heard really great things about lexapro and celexa. maybe worth a shot. wish you the best.

Sorry, i heard good things about celexa and lexapro for depression, not OCD. I dont know if it works for OCD as well. I will say a prayer for you.

Thanks for the replys. Im still taking the Zoloft and my anxiety has gotten worse. And Ive stopped taking the Xanax because Ive convinced myself that taking both of them together will harm me. AWWWWWW the joys of OCD and health anxiety. Im not sure whether I should laugh or cry at this point.

I took Zoloft in massive doses without Xanax and i must say that it made some wonders in me, but personally i prefer Paxil, it's for the same results but the componets are different...anyway i can give you more details about that medicin if you want to.
About OCD, i laugh a lot about it because it turns our life in to an inferno ( Dantes vision of hell was just a paradise compared to this ) and the best is that no one else sees it and even if they see they just think we are mad about the world or something like it...they don't see it as a desease because it's inside our head and it kills softly and gently so that no one else notices, but makes a pain that can drive us in to madness in a question of microseconds...

Paxil:

Paroxetine (pa-ROX-uh-teen) is used to treat mental depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and social anxiety disorder (also known as social phobia).
Paroxetine belongs to a group of medicines known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). These medicines are thought to work by increasing the activity of the chemical serotonin in the brain.
This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage forms:
Oral
Extended-release Tablets (U.S.)
Oral Suspension (U.S.)
Tablets (U.S. and Canada)

For more info visit www.drugs.com (http://www.drugs.com) ...

And about if it works...nothing works on me, i'm way too lost...

If there is anything i can help, just mention it.
Oh and by the way, if you ever take Paxil never take it while taking drugs composed with venlofaxin ( e.g. Effexor XR ), because it can lead to a rare " Serotinin Sindrome "...
I'm still on Paxil, Xanax XR, Effexor XR ( lol, i'm a rare case ) and Tercian...
