I am a healthy 49 year old who has just been diagnosed with osteoporis. I have always had a good diet, never smoked, drank or lived unhealthy in any way. Milk has always been a daily regimen. I dance and have always worked out and been very active. I am thin and nobody in my family has this disease. Can anyone explain to me why I got this and other people I know who live unhealthy lifestyles and drink, smoke etc. escaped? Nothing I have read will explain why some people get this disease even though they have done the right things to avoid it. Is anyone else in the same boat as me and perplexed beyond belief?

I don't really have an answer for you.
I just turned 46 and found out I have Osteoporis in my back and Osteopenia in my hips. I am a smoker but not sure this is the reason I have this condition.
I answered your post because my grandmother who is 92 years young has severe Osteoporis, she has NEVER smoked or drank.
