I am 28 years old and have bone loss. I have known for about 2 months. I was told by a pharmacist that ostioperosis is a silent disease, something you get while you're young not old. It is a scary reality. I am so afriad of falling, which I did today on the ice. I live in Wisconson where the winters can be pretty harsh. I now have to take 1500 to 2000 mg of calcium supliments plus atleast 2 servings of dairy per day which is difficult when you don't particularly care for it. I also was told to walk in order to help pound the calcium into my bones. They believe it could be hereditary (I have a grandma with osteoperosis) but I also have been on depro provera for almost 6 years, which they believe could be a strong factor in my case. Bone loss is not something that is looked for until you are in your 40's. I know in high school and as a young adult dairy products were not a part of my life. If you are on the depro shot, I highly suggest you talk to your doctor about bone loss. I had a free bone density test taken at a health fair and took the results to by doctor who imediately scheduled a bone density test to check my hips and spine. My T-zone is a -1.57. My bones are not very dense. I hope I am able to strengthen my bones and prevent any further bone loss. I'm open to any suggestions and of course would like to know that I am not the only one in my 20's who has to worry about falling. Thanks, April
