I hope I explain this correctly, I have ostopenia and a one measurement of osteoporosis in one vertebrae -2.7
which brought my average down , but still was diagnosed as ostopenia. Sooo here I was handled actonel (once
a week), which I took a couple weeks, with some digestive problems. Figured I should take fosamax as that
seems to have a better increase record. So I started that once a week also. First time it made me real sick ,( I
hate 1 hr after) even though I took a protonix night before, second week, less sick, third week , even less. Still
taking protonix (persp. anti-acid pill) day before and day of, although well after the fasomax. I drink water
before, full glass after pill, I exercise on the tread mill and I don't eat for 2 1/2 hrs. I really didn't have an acid
problem before this medicine. I also have frozen shoulder which I have been dealing with, and getting slowly
better. But this week, I have this terrible ache and pain in the same arm. Different , deeper, like a toothache, it
started a couple hours after this weeks dose of fosamax. It is pretty bad and I did nothing, didn't fall, or hit
myself, etc. I am pretty disgusted ofcoarse. I am terrified of this medicine, do we turn to stone after we take it?
apparently it does go to the bones but doesn't ever go away. Isn't that bad? Oh I forgot I do take calicum
citrate, supplements ofcoarse, and walk 1 1/2-2 miles a day , started that prior to finding out I had low bone
density.

I forgot to say I am 53, took HRT for 4 1/2 years got off, its didn't apparently help me, here I am with problems. A neighbor friend is on actonel, once a day, she took hrt 15 yrs. So much for hormone replacement.

I re-read it reads confusing, my spine T scored is -1.7 over all, but a couple of the vert. were higher, and a couple lower.

Of course we each have to decide what we are and are not willing to put up with in terms of side-effects, but with your "relatively" low score I would question using something that made you feel as you describe.

If you have read other posts here you will have seen that most of us have chosen not to go the Fosamax, Actonel, etc. route precisely because of the terrible side-effects many of us have experienced. But whichever way you decide - Western medicine or alternative - you will find a lot of support here.

I think, too, that many times doctors steer women into using these products prematurely (I'm not saying this is so in your case, but something to question perhaps?)

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best!

L1 is -2.8
which brought my average down I am hovering I think . Most are -1.5 or -1.7, making my over all T score -1.8
so I have oteoporisis in one of the measured disc. which says to me probably other places too. My arm didn't ache today just a hint. I am wondering , why the heck does this drug do that. Make one hurt so? What is that process that does that. My grandmother died from a broken hip.
