I have been taking fosamax weekly for 4 years. This past bone density test showed that my spine got worse..2.2 to 2.9. My Gyn wants me to start Evista along with Fosamax and that doesn't seem right. Has anyone taking both at the same time? Help.

I was given both fosomax and evista in the beginning but had severe side effects so discontinued both. This is, however, a legitimate protocal and since you have had no problem with the fosomax it probably wouldn't hurt to add the evista.

Since the fosmax isn't doing anything, you might also consider going another route, as many of us here have. There are many threads you could check out on this board about alternative modalities.

There are no published studies saying that the two have a synergistic effect. They should study the two together, though.

i would call the makers of both fosamax (merck 800-672-6372) and evista (lily 800-545-5979 to see if any clinical trials had been done with women using both meds at the same time..if not..i would be hesitant to do that, the thought of being a ginuea pig doesnt appeal to me
