I was wondering if anyone here has seen a loved one start actonel and then watch them slowly lose all motivation to do anything. Mom (now 70)had a bone scan 3 years ago for cancer...all clear but they found the start of osteo. Doc put her on actonel after the breast cancer surgery and she hasn't been quite the same since. She's never been overly energetic to begin with but now it will take her 2 days to motivate herself to even take a shower. Only goes out if she has a doc appt. Don't know if its just coincidence and she's just not up to par anymore ...but a friend mentioned to me their mom kind of went "down the tubes" after starting actonel. Just wondering.

Rajah,
Don't know if Actonel does cause depression but, I would say stop it for awhile and see if she starts feeling better.
Sometimes you can generalize about the way a medication will effect another person.
Good luck

Good idea...Actonel is not a life-sustaining drug.
If that's what's causing the depression, getting her
free of it for a while should let you know.
