Does anyone have any info about the side effects of using Forteo? I believe Forteo has the same chemical makeup of Fosamax/Actonel, but bypasses the stomach because it is injected. My doctor recommended it for me because of the digestive problems I have had with Actonel.

Forteo carries a "black box" warning with it which is the highest level warning the FDA can give a drug. This is due to the bone tumors that developed in rats during testing.
It made a worst pill list in April of this year.
Eli Lilly is restricted in the advertising it can do, has to conduct further trials and can't give out free samples.
Sounds to me like this would be a medication of very last resort.

Thank you for the info about Forteo! By the way, is Forteo the same drug as Iridia? (I'm not sure I have the correct spelling for that.)

I'm sorry to hear bad news about Forteo, but I still am hopeful that it (or something else) will turn out to be "a cure"....it seems like the outlook for osteoporosis treatment is so bleak! But I know that kind of thinking isn't helpful so I'll try to focus on the positive.
