It all started when I decided to go running for the first time. I had begun a rigorous walking program and was able to run for 45 minutes without getting tired. Great, I thought, but then a week later the pain began, and it turned out to the shock of the doctors that I had a stress fracture in my heel. After 2 months that seemed to be healing well, but then I wake up the next day and there is terrible pain in my other foot and now the doctors think that is broken too.
In 2 months my life has become hell, and tomorrow I find out the results of my bone density test.
I would really like to hear people's stories about living with osteoporosis. Can one lead a normal life without continued fractures? Which medications work best and how long do they take to work?
Please feel free to write me at leonoraseinfeld@yahoo.com. I have been living in a state of panic and would really appreciate any kind of advice.
Thanks,
Leonora

Lenora,
You don't state your age. That is necessary to know if you are considering taking the osteo meds. In the meantime, you might want to peruse some of the other threads here as there is a lot of good information already posted on this board.
Come back and let us know your age and the results of your Dexa scan.
All the best!

It looks like you haven't posted for a long time, but if you do see this, what did you find out from the doctor? I am 26 too....
