Hi everyone,

I am new to the boards and want to ask for some help. I have many medical issues and must take medications for pain management. The last five years have been hard as I have had two major surgeries. I took Hydocodone for pain the last five years. My tolerence to this drug increased so much that I was taking about 12 pills of the 7.5's. I have been labeled as a drug addict by all. Recently I have given up the Hydrocodone and have been coping with withdrawls. My doc prescribed a new drug Duracet and Flexiryl. I was told the Duracet was a non narcodic drug. I am finding that this drug too, is habit forming. Also, info on the net has told me that it is not a good idea to mix Prozac, Flexiryl, and Nortrypoline together. I have asked both the doctor and Pharmacist but both tell me there is not such warning.

I have considered Oxy drugs but am afraid to ask. What are the drugs available for long term pain. I am not sure that My doctor is doing things for my best interest. Maybee I need to go to a pain doctor.

Hi, I have been dealing with pain for about 5 years now. You definitely should see a pain management specialist. There are several time release meds out there that are better than the usual narcotics. I have just recently had a trial spinal cord stimulator put in to help control the pain. Although the meds do help, your body will build up an immunity to them, and like all other meds you will have to over time have the dosage increased. I have tried just about everything there is, and have yet to find anything to give me 100% relief. A PM doc can help you out though. You should have you doc send you to one.

SS...how is that spinal cord stimulator working for you? They wanted to put one in my husband but the thought that it wouldn't help.
