Hi All,
There was a good article in Newsweek this week about chronic pain and its management. It also specifically talks about pain in children and infants.

The article also talks about how they are using a PET scan to detect certain things regarding pain. It was very interesting and gave me some much-needed hope for a possible interest in better research.

Blessings,
Kathy

Kathy,

I went to Newsweeks website and could not find the article..

I am so glad more attention is being given to chronic pain patients! It seems most of the articles involve people whom are abusing/selling the medication.

Hey,

There was also a great article in Readers Digest a month ago. And yes I agree thats it about time that we had some positive reporting on pain management. There have been way to many articles on the evils of people getting there hands on the long acting narcotics and abuseing them. I'm tired of it always threatening our rights to have our pain relieved. I do hope that this means a change in public thinking about the drugs that have given us a life back. Any how the Readers digest article was really good. Check it out..

I agree too much hipe on the abuse of narcotics and not enough on the benifits and its sad they always blame the drug and not the person who abuses it. Makes me so mad. Pain medication if used as directed of course can save a persons life and give them the quality of life they deserve. And they always forget to tell us in most or all of the oxycontin deaths or overdoses that there was another drug and or alcohol involved but we dont see them complaining about the alcohol. I am going to find that article now thank you for posting this info have a wonderful day.
Autumn.

Autumn Angel,, It always seems that you hear and read about all the negative things on the use of narcotics, and none of the positive things, I don't ever recall picking up a magazine and reading how narcotics are used in a positive way,, I guess that's what sells!!

Regaurdless of what people write about, Being in PM, and having a Dr who is not afraid to treat his pts. with the use of narcotics, and other meds, has changed my life. I am now able to get out of bed, and lead a somewhat normal life.

Have A Great Day!!!!
