I have severe chronic pain(from endometriosis) and I have been taking tylenol w/codeine, percocet, and others. However, they make me very sleepy all the time and that does not help me on a everyday basis. Just curious if anyone knows about alternative meds for severe pain. Thanks.

Hi Vlasik! Welcome to the Health Boards! I take Vicodin for pain and also some anti-seizure meds. I do get a little sleepy but I can still function. Perhaps your doctor could adjust your dosage so you wouldn't get so sleepy. I think most pain meds make one sleepy and a little groggy - at first anyway. When I first started taking the Vicodin I was really out of it, but now I'm okay with it. I would check with your doctor. Maybe some of the others on the board have some advice.
