i have been taking vicodin for about a year and i switched to norco about 2 months ago and i take it regularly 4 times a day everyday, thats what my Dr. prescribed and i ran out of them yesterday and i had a appointment with my pm dr. this afternoon but i didn't have any norco to take for about 5 hours in the morning before i went to see him, when i woke up i felt like i couldn't sit still and i was real irritated and everything was making me mad, and i felt like i was crawling out of my skin, then when i got my prescription filled and took my regular dose i felt better and all those symptoms went away, is that normal? that has never happened to me before! could it be anxiety? has this ever happened to anyone before? should i stop taking the norco?HELP!

It is called withdrawls. They usually set in around 24 hrs after your last dose. If you feel better now then your bod likes the new drugs.

Yup probably withdrawls but geez that was quick but everyones different. When I run out or when I detoxed before it usually took and entire day without anything before I started all that. First thing I always get is the blasted yawning and runny nose. And of course the pain from whatever you were taking the painkillers for comes with a vengence. Not a pleasant feeling at all.

It usually takes 36 hours or longer for my symptoms to start. Usually my legs start aching then comes the sweating and runny-nose. I went through W/D's last month for a weekend, it was so awful. It felt like I had the flu, but only 100 times worse.
I read an article a while back, that had to do with people going to different Dr's seeking narcotics, and it gave a long list of symptoms, that Dr's look for in order to tell if someone is in W/D's. I think the first one on the list was runny-nose.

Hi All -

I can start withdrawing in as little as 12 hours. It depends on how many meds I had the day before.

Dollface, don't freak over this. Don't jump to the conclusion that you're an addict simply because you were in withdrawal. Your body has become dependant on the meds, not addicted - just like a diabetic is dependant on insulin, or a person with high cholesterol is dependant on Lipitor.

I mention this because you seemed like you didn't recognize the symptoms of withdrawal. If you are already aware of this info, I apologize!!

Autumn - does this mantra of mine sound familiar? Open Season would be proud of me!!

Good luck Dollface and remember - if you take all your meds as prescribed, this usually won't happen. Try to think ahead and plan for running out on weekends, holidays, or any occasion when the doctor's office or pharmacy is closed. Also, find out if and when your doc goes on vacation. This happened to me once - I ran out of meds, and my doc was on vacation. When his office closes for the day, he's gone!! There's no one covering him, and he's never on call. His pager stays in the office.

I hope I haven't offended you - just trying to help. Being out of meds and abandoned truly sucks!!

Have a great weekend - Dawn in NH
