My doctor for some reason doesn't stay past noon on Friday's....And I was told to come out today and get my refill on my Percocets. He didn't leave it for me to pick up. So I only have 4 left until Monday when I have my doctors appointment...I'm going to die from the pain.... It's been getting worse the past few days too.... I am going to go through one hell of a weekend... I just wanted to let you all know... I'm really upset with my doctor... I was just out there Monday and he told me to come out and get my script on Thursday or Friday... I assumed he would not only have it written out, but he would also be there...He didn't tell me he only stayed until noon on Fridays...Plus he didn't write the script... I guess I should just make them last as much as I can, but I don't know how well that will work...

I would call his service and have him paged. Tell them that you were supposed to pick up a script and it wasn't there and ask if they can pleas page him.

sorry that you're gonna have a rough week-end (putting it mildly). My doc also only is there til 12 on Fridays... but, I'm pretty sure they have scripts covered by other docs.

7/8-Doc ordered Facet Joint nerve block for 7/29 to rule out/identify as pain generator. If not, new discogram.
Also, thinks tailbone prob is dif issue - wants x-ray - THOUGHT I had one - didn't!! They are ordering.

Thanks for replying guys...I talked to the people in his office..They wouldn't page him for me....And I told them I was supposed to get a script...She looked for me, I watched her look, but she said that it's not an emergency and she can't page him for me...I was really pissed... heh

I would call the service and ask who's on call, ask to return your call and explain what happened with who calls. They won't be able to call in percs, but ask if they can call in something that you can double up on till monday. Tell them what you take and that you are hurting and need help just till monday, i hope they understand and can help. maybe, norco/lortab, vicoprofen etc. Good luck , dont suffer neelessly any caring doc should help. let us know, THERESA

I don't have the answer to this, but I think calling the service again and saying you need a call from the dr. on call. They will say what is the problem. "Say, I have chronic pain and am being treated for it by dr. so- and- so. I was to pick my refill Rx on Thurs. or Fri. and when I got there Fri. he had left. He forgot to write and leave my refill. I NEED the on-call dr. to call me."
Then, when he/she calls, say , could you pleas call anything in for the week-end as I cannot stop ABRUPTLY pain medication and I am in significant pain right now. I would appreciate whatever you can do."

if you end up in the ER suffering withdrawals, you may need to call a lawyer. I think people gave up their right to not be disturbed or have a person fill in for them when they CHOSE to become a doctor. Jeez! get another job if you don't like yours!

Hi HC, I know you are a bit nervous,and for good reason,but there may be a way to get you fixed up.Here,s how:First,call your Pharmacy,the one you get the Percs from.Ask the MAIN Pharmie if they are allowed to do EMERGENCY CLASS 2 REFILLS.It may differ in some states,that,s why you,ll need to call and ask.I know it works in NC,I,ve had it done twice.The law says that in Emergency situations(like yours),your dr.CAN call in a 2-3 day supply of C-2 drugs and send them the hard copy of the script on the first business day.Also ,it is a Federal law,passed in 2000,that Pain is to be treated as a vital sign and you can use that as ammo,if any know-it-all or smart-aleck tries to intimidate you or give you a hard time.Call drug store first,be calm,but serious,if they say "yes",call the Doc and tell them what info you have regarding this refill.Tell them"your attorney"reminded you of the new pain laws and you NEED to have this handled ASAP.I think you,ll have your percs soon.Jack Beanstalk

I would be soooo mad if I was told to pick up a script on a certain day and it wasnt there. He told you Thursday or Friday he didnt say Thursday or Friday before noon like he should have. I would be flippin on him on Monday but untill then here is what I would do...I have done this before when my doc took a long weekend and didnt tell me...I too assumed he would be in on a Friday and I called to see him because he usually takes me for my refills at the end of the same day I call and the script was due for refill on a Saturday.
I am lucky enough I live right across the street from the hospital. I went to the Er and told them I was in pain which I was...When I got in to see the doc I told him what happend and he gave me a script for 20 tabs to due till Tuesday cuz it was a long weekend. Take your bottle with you like I did...it proves your doctor has you on the Percs it has the date you got them so he will see they are due to be refilled and it has your dosage on it so they will give you enough to due you till Monday PLUS its not too hard for them to call your doc or the pharm to make sure you are for real and not "seeking" as most Er's think. What have you got to lose? I think they will give you something.
Dont spend all weekend in pain chasing his service unless they can give you the name of the doc on call for him and go see him. You NEED those pills....Are you just on the percs? Or are you on a BASE med as well? I cant remember what you are taking sorry. I take the percocet as well and I always make my appt about 3 or so days before I am due to run out...had too many times of waiting till the last minuate and he is either in surgery or on a vacation I didnt know about :( My prayers are with you that you get what you need let us know how you make out. Autumn, I'm just on the perc 7.5's...And he only gives me 50 at a time which is annoying enough, but the fact that they don't even last me 2 weeks is annoying as well....And then the fact that he just screwed me over like that...I really want to gripe him out, and I guarantee I'll be pretty unpleasant by Monday if I don't get something... I don't know that my grandparents will let me go to the ER...They pay the majority of my medical bills...I should be over my deductible, but we still have to pay 50% until our out of pocket is over 2200$... It sucks, but oh well...I already thought about just going to the E.R. and do that... I mentioned it to my grandma also... She said she'd rather me not... She tried to call any family members that might have anything that would help me out until Monday...No luck though...

I agree with WES!!! You call those A holes back and tell them that you are on a medication that you ARE NOT JUST SUPPOSED TO STOP!!!! Tell them if they can not get a hold of your doctor then they need to get a hold of the doctor on call. There is always a doctor on call!!! This happened to me just last month. I thought I had one more patch and I didn’t. It was around 6 pm and I knew the doctor wasn’t there. When the receptionist told me I would have to wait until Monday, I said “you better get a hold of him because he screwed up on my script...he post dated it for next week and he mis- counted!! I am out and this isn’t medication I can just STOP!!” Needless to say, I got the script. I don’t know if she even got a hold of my doctor or had the doctor on call write it, but either way I got it. So, try again. Maybe you will get a different person and tell them that your doctor said to pick it up, he forgot to leave it, now you are in trouble because you are not supposed to just stop taking the medication!!! Tell them it was his screw up and they had better get a hold of him immediately!!

Ouch..just 50? That would be annoying. My Pm always wrote for a month but had the pharm dispense so many every 14 days..till summer and that got annoying because I would have to plan camping and any trips I want to take around my refills at the pharm. So at my last appt he wrote for the month of july with a refill for the month of aug that I can pick up july 30th. So I dont have to see him again till the end of August. So be able to pick up a month at a time I can pretty much go away when I want to for a couple weeks at a time.
I would forsure be on that phone tomorrow morning and get someone to write you that script. Docs should know they shouldnt be playing around with meds you cant just stop taking. I wish you the best of luck tomorrow.

Thanks for your support guys..I don't think I'll be going through withdrawls..Since I had 4 percocets left, I'm just going to take 1 a day...I might be able to get some lortabs my cousin had left over from her surgery when she got her tubes tied...I couldn't get ahold of her tonight, but my grandma is going to try tomorrow to see if she has the lortabs left still. I know my boyfriend has a couple left from his wisdom teeth surgery that he will give me, and I think I have a couple lortabs lying around here...They don't help me much, but I am hoping they will at least get me through the weekend, but I'm also going to call tomorrow to see if I can get my doc paged for me. My boyfriend really wants to take me to the ER, but I think I'll just wait to find out if I can get ahold of my doc tomorrow. There's only one doctor in his office *him* so I don't know if there will be any other docs on call, but hopefully he'll know that it's important and call me back, and at least call in something for me... Anyways, Thank you all for your very very helpful information. You guys are like my friends, even though I don't know you hardly at all. But you care so much, it's like you are my friends. If there's anything I can ever help you guys with, just let me know. Thank you again...

Thanks..I will, but I haven't been to sleep yet, and I'm just really tired...I really need to get a little sleep. Its like I can't lie down in the same position too long, I can't sit down too long, I can't be in the same position for longer than 5 minutes or I just start getting extremely uncomfortable and the pain starts getting worse...So I'm like constantly moving, and tossing and turning...makes things difficult when I'm trying to sleep (and have problems sleeping anyways!) Thanks again for your support.. I'll try to get something done today....AFTER I get some rest. Have a good morning all.

Well, it's not the best thing in the world, but I got 12 Lortabs to last me until Monday... Plus of course my 3 Percocets that I have left...I will hopefully not have such a rough weekend afterall...Thanks for everyone's advice... :) It kinda sucks that I have a pretty high tolerance to Lortabs, but at the same time, it's WAY better than nothing at all, all weekend.

Even though it's just Lortabs, I feel so much better! Of course I still am in pain, but it definitely is better than no pain meds at all!!!! Thank you all for your so useful information and advice. I wish I could do something for you guys... So let me know if there's anything I can ever help you with. I am so glad these 12 Lortabs (+2 of my own leftover) and my 3 percocets will help get me through the weekend, but I swear my doc is going to get a mouthful when I show up on Monday to my appointment...

Hey Crystal,
I hope you have a good weekend. I wanted to tell you something about the lortabs. I had been given vicodin before 5mg of hydrocodone to 500 mg of tylenol. A nurse told me that vicodin was very similar to percocet but not as strong. When vicodin wasn't enough, I was told I would be given Lortab which is twice the strength of vicodin. 10 mg of hydrocodone to 500 mg of tylenol depending on if that's the strength you have. I found on a narcotic dosage chart that that 5 mg of oxycodone is similar to 7.5 mg of hydrocodone. So if you have lortab 10 mg of hydrocodone it would be a little stronger than percocet 5mg. Glad to hear you got some pain relief. Have you tried getting into a pain management dr.? I usually get about 90 pills at a time that last for one month. My pm dr. doesn't have any problems keeping me out of pain. I go in and tell them how much I take per day and they give me enough per day to last a month.

Actually no.. I'm on Lortab 5...And usually I'm on Percocet 7.5. So the percocets are actually stronger... I have mentioned PM to my doc, but he kinda blew it off. He's a D.O. but also a GP, and he doesn't have a problem giving me pain meds to help manage my pain...At least at the moment. Anyways, I like the Percocets a lot better, they don't upset my stomach as much...With Lortabs I have to take anti-nausea/vomitting pills, whereas with the Percocets I don't. Anyways, I thank you for your advice... Hope you have a good evening :)
