Hey Ruko,

About the demerol and percacet. Demerol in pill form is not nearly as strong as the percacet. Plus demerol has a active metobolite called normeperdine which if taken in the long term can be very toxic to the liver. And that is the same for the injectable demerol as well. Demerol in the injectable is a very good pain reliever but it is not intended for long term pain managemnet. It should not be taken for longer than 2 weeks. Thats the info that I have found on that particular med. And yes pain meds work differently on other people. I do have a question for you. Is it when you take a percacet that there is no pain relief at all or is it that you can't feel and of the side effects of the drug. Like for me I take OxyIr for bt pain. Its just like your med except no tylenol in it. I know when I take one there is not euphoria anymore or sleepiness just pain relief. If its that you just aren't getting any pain relief. Then maybe you should contact your doc for anopther BT med. I hope that this has helped. Take care and keep us posted..

The percocet is just not working for pain relief unless I take 3 tablets but I am not sure if this is too much on top of the 30mg tid I take of oxycontin.
Thanks.

Another drug I am wondering about is Talwin how strong it is I have heard that it is equal to a tylenol #4,and some say its about the same as a percocet. The reason I ask about these meds is I have some tablets left from previous prescriptions and I want to know what would be good for breakthrough pain to go along with oxycontin that I am on.The pm doc currently has me on percocet for bt pain but it is not working. Thanks

Hi Just curious are you taking 10mg of oxycontin 3/day? If so my pal Matt brought up a good subject on the Toxics. Maybe you can look to changing your long term pain med and going with Oxy IR (which is great as you can regulate your dosage along with no APAP).Take care Lake

Grizzk...
I read that you say that Percocet is stronger than Demerol(oral)...I thought that Demerol was or is a synthetic form of morphine which I thought was stronger. If that is true, then what is Percocet? I know it reads as oxycodone, is that morphine in any form. It is so hard to get it straight. I have my husband on the Percocet as I have posted here and ibu inbetween. I do have pill form Demerol/Phernergan but was hesitant to use it thinking it was stronger and therefore more addictive.
Are they both Level II?
Sorry I sound like I keep repeating myself but just not familiar with all of this....Msbugg
