I am pretty new to the whole pain medication thing. The only bad thing is I find within three hours I am in pain again. I was wondering what (if any) are longer lasting? I find I have several hours where I am not getting relief and since I can only take 3 tabs a day?
(today I did take 4 1/2) That makes me nervous.
Thanks everyone,
LouiseM

Hi
You sound like you need more medicine for your care. I would recommend that you let your doctor know that you are not receiving enough pain relief eith your present setup. Let him know when it wares off. Let him know how much pain you are in when it wares off also;. Then ask him if he can suggest something or someway to get better relief. He will probably take care of your needs. Do not tell him, unless you know him very well, that you have not been taking the medicine as prescribed. Just let him know ASAP that it is not taking care of you. Long acting meds are like Oxycontin, And MSContin. There are others but these are set as 12 hour tablets. They only last 8 hours. At least the oxys only last 8 hours.

Hello,
The Duragesic Patch is also a long acting strong pain medicine in a Transdermal Patch Most Drs rx them to be changed every 72 hours, and usually prescribe some thing for break thru pain as well. The are working wonders for me. I take way less pills than I was taking before my Dr put me on them. One more thing they come in different mgs 25,50,75,100 to best suit your pain managment.

With the duragesic patches, if you have a tendency of heavy sweating, you may have a tendency for the patches to fall off early.

That can be avoided.

Call the toll free number on the Duragesic package and tell them that you can not keep the Duragesic patch on, no matter what you've tried.

After you talk to them, they WILL send you Fifty FREE "Bioclusive" Transparent Dressings. They are individually Sealed. They are Very Thin, but very adhedsive and WILL NOT FALL OFF!!!! Even if the Duragesic patch has a tendency to fall off after 12 hours on your upper chest, the "Bioclusive" covering will allow you to wear a Duragesic patch for a full 72 hours, if you install it at the same time as your Duragesic patch.

Included with the Box of 50 "Bioclusive" Transparent Dressings from Johnson and Johnson, The Duragesic people will also send you a blue 3x5 card so that you can reorder a replacement box of "BIOCLUSIVE" when you begin to run low. This is ALWAYS FREE OF CHARGE!!!!! (Thats about $100 a box)

Just call the toll free number on your Duragesic Transdermal Patch box and listen to the Voice Prompts and choose the prompt to speak to a HUMAN as an End Used or as a Customer.
