I would like to say to anyone considering having the pump done to really think long and hard as it is not and easy ride But if yiu do decide it is defenatly worth the ride at the end..
I Would like to thank personaly Linda1, Pixipoodle, Sharron, Kim, Crystal, waleylaker and anyone else i have forgotten to name, I could not have done this without any of you at all, You all helped me tremedously, You helped me when i was having doubts about this Pump at the very begginning, Helped me count down to the op itself and then continued to give me support and gave me all the infomation that you could to keep my mind sane..
Then when i had my trial you were all there to encourage and support me and when i finaly went in for the real thing you all came forward with your love and support and see me through the tough times i had afterwards, you all never tired of me or never said a bad word against me only kind supportive words that made me feel so very much better..
I hope i have made freinds for life as now i have this pump does not mean i will not need you all again infact it reminds me that i am a cper for life only with constant control and support from the hospital, and most of all from all of you..
Thank you all so very much..

Hello Tiddgys!
I'm so happy and thankful that you're FINALLY reaping the benefits of the pump surgery. And you have certainly given me more hope when I have to undergo it again.
It's been my pleasure to see you through this long ordeal. I felt the same way about you and the others when I was going thru it. You are truly a good friend, and I hope, a friend for life!! Remember, I'll be needing you and the others again myself. Please don't abandon me, OK?
What I want for you now is to relax and let the pump do it's "thing" by controlling the pain. I hope the pump will give you more of your ole life back before the pain took over your very being.
Take care, dear friend, and know I'm here for you always. Linda :D

Hi Tiddgys,
I am so happy for you. Now, we just have to get Linda set up with the pump and we'll be good to go! I am glad I was able to help you. If you ever have any questions about the pump, feel free to ask.
Linda, we'll be there for you when you need us too. I really hope the second time around for you is so much better and that you get to experience the positives of the pump rather than the negative.
Sharon :)

I am glad to hear you are doing so GREAT!! I AM JEALOUS!!!!!! :-)
Good luck and try to relax and enjoy being PAIN FREE!!

Hello girls..
Linda we are def freinds for life and i will def be here for when you go through all of your procdure for this pump..
Sassymom, thank you so much hon for your kind words i really appreciate them, I will always try to be of help to you when i can..
Sharron, yep when Linda is sorted out we will have our own little pump club won't we ;) Only joking but between us we would certainly have enough knowlege to help others here to decide if it were to be for them or not..
Bailey, hello and welcome, if you go to www.medtronics (http://www.medtronics) there is their own site and they can help you .
But i am a little confused as i raed somewhere else that you are also interested in the SCS (Spinal chord stimulater,) You can not choose what you want!! You have to be refered by your doctor, it took mine a yr to all come together before i finally had mine implanted, This is a very very big step not one to be taken lightly..
To get a pump you would normaly have had to have undergone surgery and alsorts of conservative treatment such as pysio and loads of nerve blocks and then like you are now on meds, But if these are working they would not give you the pump just coz you are fed up taking them oraly, They would have to have tried alsorts of meds first before they decide that right they are not working for you, I was tried on many meds before this pump..
Baily, you have to be refered to have the pump Implant by your pain management doc or someone simular, then you have to see a pychologist to see weather you are the right person for the pump as it is a very big and invasive thing to go through..
Then finaly if the pychologist passes you you then get to have a trial which could be a longer more realistc one with the trial pump being on the outside of the body and you spending a few days in hospital while they increase it everyday or you get a bolus single injection in the day care which is over and done with in the day with both of these's test you have to get the experience they are looking for which is good pain relief with no side effects, if this part goes well they will then decide on when you get to go ahead with the real thing..
If you go to the archives at the top right hand corner of the page and put in pump it will fetch up alot of what as been asked already even about how the procedure is done..
I wish you the very best..

Hi Tiddgys,
Since you're having pain, can you call the doctor and see if they can get you in earlier to get an increase? Waiting for a week and a half sounds like murder if you're in a lot of pain. Just a thought.

It was suggested to me by the Pain CLinic that I have a spinal block and I would like to know more about what it is and what it entails, as well as side effects etc. I was involved in a car accident four years ago and suffered a spinal injury along with many other broken bones! I broke 7 vertebrae in the lower back, three between my shoulder blades and two in my neck (the L4 was a burst fracture). I would appreciate any information.

The injection is performed under local anaesthesia, intravenous sedation, with x-ray screening, whilst lying face down.
A small diameter 3.5" needle is positioned in the nerve root exit hole ( Foramen) at the side of the spine. X-ray contrast medium is injected to outline the nerve root ( Lumbar Radiculogram, Cervical Radiculogram).
Once the needle is in the correct position, and not in the cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF), a mixture containing 2% lignocaine and triamcinolone 20 mg is injected around the nerve root.
Aftercare
Vital signs monitoring is usual for a short time after the procedure.
Arm or leg weakness, numbness, and temporary loss of use in the limb can occur in some patients, therefore an overnight stay is advisable.
There you go i hope this helps you, This different froma pain pump though.

Tiddgys, I'm so happy to see your still here!! I've been wondering how you made out since I've been back. It's great to see that you're benefitting from this pump and finally getting some relief from your pain. TC my friend.
