Ok...so I'm on Roxicodone (15mg 4/day), Oxycodone (5mg as needed), Valium (10mg 3/day) and Effexor (150 mg 1/day).....This has been only in the last 2 months. I've completely lost my appetite. I've gone from 159lbs (yes I weigh myself everyday) to 138lbs.
My mother, who is worried about the massive weight loss is questioning why. The only thing I can tell her is the meds I'm on are like "Anorexia in pill form." Is that right? Is loss of appetite something common?
Don't get me wrong, I want to lose weight. I used to be 130 lbs and then ***BAHM*** went to almost 160 (it felt like over night, which I know is not true). So, yippie for my weight loss, but I would like to know why. Is it the meds? I want to ask my doctor, but I'm afraid if I tell him how much weight I've lost, he'll change my meds (and I'm finally one something that is working well and don't want to change).
Anyone have any ideas? I'll be happy when I lose the last 8 lbs, but what about after that? I force myself to eat dinner (at least). With my TMJ (severe) I can only eat soft foods anyways--so Ramon noodles have become my favorite dinner. What'da think?

Hi
If you r doctor is like most of the ones we have you should get weighed every visit. So I don't believe that you can keep the weight loss a secret. So I would not hesitate to talk to him and let him know of your concern. It might be something else. I take similar meds and I do not loose weight due to them. Or I would eat those meds for dinner. But it could very well be that in your case. I do recommend you talk to him anyway. I think you won't be able to hide the weight loss.

I take fairly large amounts of narcotics (Duragisic 75mcg/h-change every 2 days-, Actiq 800mcg as needed for BT pain, and valium 10mg 3/per day) and I have problems eating all the time. Of course I don't eat that much because of the stomach upset from the drugs. I can feel the quesiness of my stomach and can tell that it is directly related to the amount of narcotics I have in my system at that time. If you just started on that dosage then it could be transiet and will go away in a couple months when your body adapts to the new drug and/or dosage. I hope I helped and good luck with your pain and problems.

Yes,
The same thing has been happening to me. I have lost like 20 pounds in like 2 months, but believe me I need to. I have been on a diet anyway for a long time andI have lost a total of 67 lbs now. Yeah for me, I do it, so don't get worried people. I just don't have a appetiate at all anymore. I do force myself to eat a little something every 4 or 5 hours. Just to keep myself going.
Well just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
Take Care,
Quinny
