Hi all,
I have been diagnosed for 3 years. Been taking Sinemet for about a year and was doing pretty good until reently. I hurt all over so badly. Muscle ahes are terrible. I have always had them but not like this. Doctor has wanted to add Requip for some time now but I was hesitant. Do you think this will help? Is it normal to feel so bad?
Love to all,
Mona

Mona,

Sorry to hear you're feeling so poorly. I took Requip for about 2 months (although not while taking Sinemet). It helped a lot with muscle stiffness and pain. I had to stop taking because of side effects, but it worked great while I was on it.

Hope this helps...

Thanks Holly for your reply. I have been prescribed Xanax 3 times a day but have only been taking it at night. I have found that it does help with the pain so I am going to take it during the day also to see if that improves it. Doctor said it helps beause it has a muscle relaxent in it. Thanks again for your help.
Love, Mona

Mona,
Please do be careful with the Xanax though. I had a friend who was horribly addicted to Xanax, and when it wore off, she would go into fits of anxiety like you would not believe. Screaming, shaking, literally having drug withdrawls.

She also checked into drug rehab several times trying to get off Xanax, but never succeeded. I don't know where she is now, she just up and moved one day and I never heard from her again.

I don't mean to scare you, but the word Xanax just makes me think of that poor girl. She was just trying to get relief for allergies, and the doctor thought it was phychological, and prescribed anti-anxiety medication, and the next thing she knew, she was a drug addict.

Please discuss any possible side effects with your doctor and see if there is something less addictive he can prescribe for you. Like I said, I don't want to scare you, I hope this will be of help to you.

Take Care of yourself now, and I will pray that you find a pain medication which works miracles for you without addiction.
Sincerely,
Caring

Hi Mona,

I have taken Xanex, .25 mg., as needed for anxiety. I think there's a chance you may become "hooked" on it, but I am not and I doubt if you will be either, if you follow your doctor's instructions for taking it. This is a very low dosage.

I have also taken Requip, and it helps too. In fact, since my DBS-STN, Requip is the only medication I take. If you take it with food, it shouldn't have any side effects. If not, watch out!!! You will be sick to your stomach. I know it's hard to take Sinemet on an empty stomach and then take the Requip with food, but just a couple crackers seem to do it for me and They never bothered the Sinemet while I was taking it.

I'd advise you to try the Requip since it is for PD and the Xanex is not specifically for PD.
