Hello everyone. My mother inlaw has recently been diagnosed with PD. She is having some pretty serious side effects(Hallucinations and confusion)are the most serious ones. Is this normal because of the med(Too high?)See is taking sinet(I think this is the way that it is spelled). Can anyone give some direction/advice. Regards D.Holloway.

Yes, D., the Sinemet can cause hallucinations and confusion. How much is she taking? I'd advise you to go to the NPF site www.parkinson.org (http://www.parkinson.org) and get some information. They are very helpful.

Many times side effects are dose related. The higher the dose, the more likely you will have side effects.

Older people metablize drugs more slowly then younger people and might need a lower dose of Sinemet then is usually prescribed.
