Probably a good place to start is by reading a book on Parkinson's disease. There are a couple that I think are particularly good, but the best I have seen so far is by William Weiner, Lisa Shulman and Anthony Lang. The title is Parkinson's Disease: A Complete Guide for Patients and Families (Johns Hopkins Press). It costs about $17. Attending a local support group can also be very helpful.

I'm having trouble posting. Some get deleted.Anyway, the good Dr gave you the best advice. That was the way I went in the beginning. You can also get pamplets from the WWW. NPF.org

Good Luck,

Hello Simby,

Just remember, no two people react the same to anything, the medications, the disease, or what symptoms they have. Just because one person has one thing doesn't mean your dad is going to get it. But by all means, read the book the doctor recommended. It's very good. And Googy also gave good advice. Go to the NPF site. It is very helpful. Those two things are a good place to start.
