My mom has had two visits to her MDS in Sunnyvale, CA. I must say... you all know what you are talking about when you speak of the importance of seeing a MDS.
They really took the time to get a complete case history and were able to get my mom in a more effective medication schedule rather quickly. It is still taking some fine-tuning but at least we feel that we are on the right track.

My mom currently takes 2 Sinemet 25/100 with Comtan 5 times a day and Sinemet CR before bedtime. It seems to be working out okay but some days are still better than others. It is such a fine balance between under-medication and the associated leg pains and over-medication and the associated increase in involuntary movements. The doseage that worked well yesterday is not necessarily the doseage that will work well today. It takes a lot of play it by ear adjustments of 1/2 of a tablet of the Sinemet 25/100. My mom feels like she is always taking medication because her doseages are only 3 hours apart during the daytime.

We are so thankful to the people at the Parkinson's Institute for getting my mom back to where she is now.

Hi Bsan,

Yes, as googy said, trial and error is the name of the game. Just when you think you have it all down, something else comes up to confuse the issue. But your Mom is doing better, and that's what counts. I can't say enough about an MDS. They are awesome. For 9 years I didn't know there was such a thing and was treated by a regular neurologist. It was the same thing, walk down the hall, take your pills and see me in 6 months. When I went to an MDS, what a change.

Just keep encouraging your mom and tell her things will get better, because they will.
