My local neurologist who is not a movement disorder specialist, has been insisting that I switch from Parlodel to first Requip and today his partner wanted me to try Mirapex. Besides enduring side effects from the adjustmets (DBS) especially increasing double vision, today I realized that my weak spells were a Requip side effect. One Parlodel tablet cleared up the weakness within 30 minutes. This is making my life a living hell. I was getting along fine taking Parlodel.

The following was taken from the NPF web site and was written by Dr. Jean Hubble (one of the best). Despite the fact that Mirapex and Requip have been more widely tested as treatments for various stages of PD than Parlodel and pergolide, there is no proof that one dopamine agonist is better or safer than another. These four drugs have never been carefully to each other in monitored clinical trials . Some patients who cannot tolerate or fail to benefit from one drug may very well have a favorable response to another drug in this class.

Guess what I am going to do with this info.
