I was looking at different med options on the net incase we have to change my son's and found this stuff that's called Atomoxetine. It hasn't been FDA approved yet but sounds interesting. Has anyone else heard of it? It is a nonstimulant ADHD med. It is another one that was in development for depression but found to work on ADHD. Early tests show it to be as effective if not a little more so than Ritalin but with fewer side affects inregards to sleep and appetite loss. I was wondering if anyone has heard when it will be available.

do you mean that the drug itself isn't FDA approved or that it isn't approved for ADD? Myself, I'm a bit leery about trying really new drugs. I like to see what happpens to others first...(yup! I'm a big chicken!)

It hasn't been FDA approved at all yet but is expected to be in early 2003.

This is the one my son's dr. is considering putting him on,instead of the Concerta. He said he's heard some remarkable results, but is in the process of checking into it. I think he said it just now got FDA approval. I was under the impression it's not till 2003.
