My son has adhd and anxiety attacks along with right eye vision problems. He just started paxil and has been on ritilin for a couple of years.Anyway he is 11 years old and in the middle of 5 th grade.he is in rsp classes for half the day and he has an iep plan done every year yet the goals the special ed teacher sets for him are the same .I have requested an evaluation to find out where he is compared to his class or any 5 th grade classbut they refuse to do it he is still doing 2 grade work.and is failing science and social studies .At the last teacher conferience The teacher seen my face when i seen the f in science and had the nerve to change the F to a B right in front of me.anyone have any suggestions cause when i ask the teachers about his comparision to others they tell me it only matters what he compares to himself and weather or not he is progressing. The school ditrict hasnt retuned my phone calls yet.and they are putting him into juniorhigh next year any thoughts?

Talk to the school principal about this issue and if you don't get satisfaction there then talk to the school superintendant. You say they do an IEP every year but the goals never change..............REFUSE TO SIGN IT! Plain and simple refuse to sign it if they don't update his goals. As for him being at a second grade level yet they are passing him to Jr. High next year............I am not sure how to deal with this issue but maybe another poster can offer insight into this one. As for the teacher changing his F to a B in front of you................that one should be reported to the principal and to the school superintendant for your district. My son is getting F's in school but I point blank told the teachers that I cannot help him with homeowrk if I have no clue what he is supposed to do. Told them right out that until they make sure that he uses the assignment notebook that they require every student to buy when you register them for school there was nothing I could do. The teachers need to told in no uncertain terms when a problem exists and that something needs to be done. I hope some of this helps you get results.
