I was just diagnosed with PD and was told by my doctor that coenzyme q10 might be of some help in slowing the degenerative process. I find it is very expensive, especially since the minimum effective dose is 1200 mgs.(at least, so I was told). Does anyone know where the cheapest place (on the web) to buy it can be found? Thanks.

Hi Bruce. I don't know the cheapest place to get the CoQ10, but I have been reading a lot about it since I had it reccommended to me too. Evidently, the study they did to determine it's effectiveness was only done on 50 people, and it was somehow mixed with something else. If we could find out the exact ingredients that were in the mixture the study group took, well, it might help. I am really confused on this one, but I think the cost is enough of a deterrent for me until they come up with some more study results. Just paying for the meds I KNOW are effective is struggle enough.

Hi Bruce, i can't rrecommend a source for you since i think that would violate the rules of this board. Their are many sites on the internet that sell the drug.
Keep in mind, their is only one study that was done with the proper controls, and, because of the high dose, it is an expensive drug and all of the possible side effects might not be known.

I have been told by my doctor that he wouldn't use it unless they come out with a more reputable study (and this one looks promising; just not enough people). It's so expensive and not really proven to do any good.
