Does levadopa help tremors, or does one have to treat that separately? I've read some medical journals and have been told yes and no. The reason I find this question so pertinent is that tremor is by far the most prominent symptom in my case...I just want to know what to expect when the doc puts me on levadopa in a couple years...

When you first start taking Sinemet and achieving the best result, the drug should relieve the tremors, but as you continue to take it year after year, the tremors will likely return. As the dose is gradually increased, one of the common aide effects is dyskinesia. Dyskinesia dffers from tremors in that your head gyrates around. Observe Michael j Fox and you will see classic dskinesia.

In the future, you can add Comtan with the Sinemet and you might be able to take a lower dose of Sinemet. THeir is a new drug on the market that contains both Sinemet and Comtan. Amantadine is an old drug that might reduce dyskinesia.

Tremors are usually treatable with the DBS surgery, but that too is in the future.
