I felt the need to post this topic that has been in the news. After some long thinking, i have decided to stick with this forum, but don't plan on going back to the other forum.
This study was retroactive. They simply reviewed old records of health professionals to see the effect of anti inflamatory drugs such as ibuprofen on pd. They claimed there was a 45 % less pd in people who took the drug at least twice a week.
Dr. Lieberman urged people to be cautious in interpreting these results.
I have taken 800mg of ibuprofen every five hours years before i was diagosed with pd and have continued to take it every day for arthritis up until the present time. It goes without saying, i am very skeptical of this study.
Many conclusions were stated, among which includes the dopamine cells were likely to be inflamed, therefore it semed reasonable to imply, taking an inflamatory drug would prevnent pd. That is pure speculation.

Bruce,
So happy to see you are back!
Did you happen to see the today show this week.
There was a gentleman on there that had gene replacement therapy for PD. It had only been a couple of days, so there is no news. Had you ever heard of it and what do you think about it.

Dr. Lieberman has a "ask the doctor" topic on the NPF web site. What i like to do is pick a topic, and search through his old questions. There were many letters about ibuprofen.
I just planted some Fall spinach. The garden turned out pretty good. Somehow, zuchinni and green beans doesn't sound so good right now. I grew a lot of beans and zuchinni, and was giving it to several neighbors. It has been so hot and humid, i can't work very long, but have three plots dug up. I just do a little each day until i get it done.
Now that i have learned how to grow things on these plots, i should do better next year.
