Hello everyone

My cousin was 20 years old 2 weeks ago. He had schizophrenia, so did my aunt (his mother). She is in an institute and is very badly affected by the illness.

Two weeks ago we got the news that my cousin hung himself in the shed in his backyard.

It has been a painful time for me.

Dear Blackcat,
So sorry to hear your loss. Your cousin is in a better place now where there is no more pain or voices. Life here was just to hard for him. He needed to go home.
I to have family memebers with schizophrenia. It's not an easy road to walk. Keep your faith.

BEANNACHT

By John O’Donohue

On the day when the weight deadens
on your shoulders and you stumble,
may the clay dance to balance you.
And when your eyes freeze behind the gray window
and the ghost of loss gets into you,
may a flock of colors, indigo, red, green and azure blue come to awaken in you a meadow of delight.

When the canvas frays in the curach of thought
and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so, may a slow wind work
these words of love around you,
an invisible cloak to mind your life.

Be well and know you are in my prayers.
Kris

I give you this one thought to keep-
I am with you still---I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripen grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still – in each new dawn. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/angel.gif

Thanks everyone for your support. It kinda sucked for my dad that he wasnt able to go to the funeral.
I am just sad for my uncle, and my two other cousins, the siblings of the one who hung himself. His mother is in an instituation and she long ago lost the ability to be the mother they needed. Their poor father had to take up as many jobs as possible to keep them in clothes and fed, in affect, they lost both their mother and thier father to this illness. In the meantime with no parents around the boys wandered the city doing who knows what, and I happen to know that my cousin did have a drug problem. Could not have been good mixing with his medications, and his moods. When my cousin was 19 he spent a few months in an institute for his schizophrenia, but he was released and seemed to be doing better. However obviously they werent.

I guess it shows the importance of having loving understanding family close by (they lived on the other side of the country). And the importance of psychiatric help and medication, so that these incidents are less of a chance.

Thanks again, and take care all.
