View Full Version : Mental Illness Denial in Teenagers

Hello,

My cousin is 15 yrs old, and he's in a state of denial about his symptoms. He's showing symptoms of paranoid schizoprenia (he gets very tense, stares, laughs inapporpriately and looks aggressive). He does not want to take his medication (Zyprexa). I understand that this must be one of the hardest things that anyone has to deal with, but I also want to help him desperately.
If there are any other teens out there coping with schizophrenia, I would really appreciate hearing your stories (any words of wisdom or encouragement). What helped you get past the initial shock or denial?

Thanks so much
