I was on seroquel for quite an while now. Even though it is the best antipsychotic I have even been on: no weight gain, no EPS, no stiffness, there are still a lot of side effects on it. To begin with I can not stand the drownsiness anymore. I sleep over 10 hours a day, which is not good. I am 1 year away of going to law school, where u have to study 16 hours a day....so what am going do? Besides....my face looks WEIRD. It looks dead, ugly, different, mis shaped, plain weird. It is a side effect that every single anti psychotic has, very similar to epiletic drugs. This is about to change now. ABILIFY (aripiprazole)has finally being approved. I won't go into details but it is the best drug I have ever dreamed on. No drownsiness, no weird face, no eps, no nothing. NOTHING. I seriously recommend this drug. It is brand new so many of u did not heard about it. Do a search and read a lil bit of it and ask ur doctor. ABILIFY HAS TRULY CHANGED MY LIFE!

My husband has been on Zyprexa and he sleeps about 15 hours every day. My sister-in-law told me about Abilify a couple of days ago. She said that is has changed her life too. My husband is going to talk with his doctor to see if Abilify is right for him. I also understand that it is much cheaper than Zyprexa too.

Let me know how it goes. I have been researching abilify for a while now...well..ok a week. My son has been playing the anti-psychotic Russian roulette wheel for 8 years. We have had hope for many of the atypicals...tried many of them (Risperdol, Serequel, Geodon..forgive spelling). I fear that the fact that he originally started on Haldol, that it may not allow the newer meds to be effective...because of the changes in his brain chemistry. I'm not bashing his prior treatment....that's all that was out there in 96'. What do you think?

This message is to laural. I just read your posted message regarding abilify. Yes my daughter is on it now. She has been on it now for almost 3 weeks I see some improvement but not what we had hoped for. Do know everyone says to give it time because sometimes it can take up to 5 to 6 weeks to get the results you are looking for. Just wondering if there is any other information you have found on your researching on Abilify.

My experience with my daughter is very good with abilify. However it took 1 week to see improvement from resperidol. However she consumes no copper. (It matters for her) anyone can try abstaining from copper to see if it works for you. She does not eat food colorings. (this works for her) trial and error for each person for at least 30 days is 1 way. She eats based on the food peramid with 2 servings of a vitmain c food a day orange and strawberries etc. Otherwise its fruit salad with 3 of her favorites 1x a day, and takes B3 and B6 because she HAD high cholesterol (not now) from the doctor. It helps her moods as a side effect. She also eats salmon and tuna and turkey. Try it for 30 days. I am concerned to find anyone who has had general anesthesia and abilify from the dentist or surgery and what the outcome was. Good Luck to all.
