Hey I have heard so many good storys about the use of fish oils but I don't know why it's not working for my son. In fact when I started useing it and he would go to school he was worst in class. He is ADHD (8 years old) and was always hyper but seems like when I give him the fish oil he gets more hyper. Does anyone know why?? Are could give me some advice?? I am giving him a multi vit, cal,mag,b-complex,chromium picolinate, and vit C..he does good sometimes but I wanted to try the fish oil also.

What dose is he taking ?
I see results around 8 grams a day, however everyone is different. I believe statistically for AD/HD symptoms it's around 14 grams a day.
Use quality fish oil also, for example PBL omega-3. It's considered pharmaceutical grade.

Thanks help I am not sure how much he is taking. On the back of the bottle is has Natural Fish Oil Concentrate 1000 mg, EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) 180 mg, and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) 120 mg... I don't think that is the same as you take..
I was wondering if that is common to get more hyper when you first start taking fish oil?? He get wild when I give it to him. I really wish it would work for him..any more advice??
Oh I tried the be'Calm stuff and it didn't work for him.

Try adding in DL-phenylalanine, L-Tyrosine, and some protein shakes, try and cut out all simple carbs, especially bread. Try some quality fish oil, if you can't find pharmaceutical grade, check out the health food store for brands like: twinlab, solgar, solaray, etc. Make sure it's fish body oil, and at least "concentrate" in quality. Look for the highest DHA content per serving size.
Hi
In addition to the fish oils, has anyone had any personal experience with DMG?
I read some interesting research tonight but am always suspect due to the flood of information on what can help focus and attention. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Wil

Thanks so so much help...you know I did try the DL-phen and the L-Tryo with my son way back and it did work very good but after a few months it looked like his body got use to it or something. Yes I will do that again. Maybe this will be my answer..I'll go buy my quality fish oil and the amio acids also.
Also I do believe about the carb issue. I am doing Atkins and I feel so much better on it. But it's so hard to find what a 8 year old boy would like. He doesn't like veg. LOL The only veg. he likes is corn and peas. Both are high in carbs. He loves milk and bread. He could live off of cheese sandwiches. LOL He is not at all a sweet tooth so that good. He may once in a while have one candy and doesn't even finish it. Now I know strawberries are low in carbs as for as fruit so I may add some of that.
help-what do you think about kids with yeast over growth?? I have heard that may also be reasons of adhd.
Thanks so much. Going to GNC to buy my amino's and I'll check to see if they have good fish oil there.

Dixie that is the same strength fish oil gelcap I take, I do take 2 per day. Now with me it did take 2-3 weeks before I noticed any improvement. This is something that takes some time to notice the full benifit of fish oil. I have been on it over 18 months now and am still noticing improvements. Give time to do its stuff.
Yeast overgrowth ? elaborate..
Also, look into biofeedback. It will correct frontal lobe 'shutdown' permanently. Frontal lobe shutdown, is "the harder I try the worse it becomes" symptoms of AD/HD.
