hello
I am a 21 f and have been recently diagnosed with ADD. My doctor has put me on Ritalin. I was very scared about taking this drug because I heard it is highly addictive and can do awful things to your body permanently. I find the drug wears out quickly. Does anyone know anything about the dangers of this drug or any other alternatives? Also, is excessive worrying a trait that many people with ADD have?

Yes, many people with ADD tend to worry excessively. Sometimes it's as if an idea sort of gets "stuck in your head" and it just keeps going around and around and around.

I was really worried about starting ritalin because of all the bed press I started a year ago at 41 and since than have cut down considerably on the amount I drink I take 3 or 4 10 mg a day depending on how long I am up and what I am up to in the evening. I have never had to increase the dose I know if I have missed one because I find myself drifitng but I don't have to take one I want to because my body works so well with it for a drug to be addictive you will hve to keep increasing the dosage to get the smae effect. If the ritalin is right for you once you are stablised ont he right dose you will probably never have to change the amount. It may take a while to achieve the right dose and the right medication but when you have it you will know.
