ADD/Inattentive teen diagnosed in fall after many years of struggle; bright, comes from family that values education, and with successful siblings. sadly, he won't attempt to read, and has lost confidence in an unsupportive, public school environment. can't afford private school. have qualified him for IEP, but their attempts to help are too little, too late. still fighting for my precious son.....whose many gifts, which include creative, deep thinking, social strengths, artistic abilities, leadership and sales potential - are buried in the diagnosis of ADD.
no luck/response with ritalin (generic and name-brand), adderall, wellbutrin(sustained release) and strattera. trial and error seems so unscientific - and scary!! now, it's been advised to try regular wellbutrin 75 mg./then bump up to 150 mg., once a day. nurse practitioner claims regular wellbutrin behaves differently than the sustained release. she's also like to add clonidine (sp.) - all for attention and focus. i associate clonidine with oppositional kids - and my kid is NOT! hate to medicate him, but desperate for a response. if we had a positive response, it would be helpful for him to function at school. has anyone had any luck with wellbutrin and/or wellbutrin/clonidine combination?
this is my first posting - so glad to have found this site!!

My 17 year old son take 150mg SR wellbutrin once a day. He started on 75 and was changed to 150 recently. He started taking it for depression but it has helped his ADD too.

My daughter is on clonindine, risperdal and adderal. The adderal ( which she just started ) seems to make her overstimulated and hard to manage. She seems to do well with the clonindine and risperdal though.

I don't understand what you mean, help. My son has ADD without the hyperactivity.

No response at all with ritalin, etc. or a negative response ? When you say "no response" does this mean he takes it and it's as if he didn't take anything ?
