View Full Version : Cholinergic Urticaria

My daughter, 15, was just diagnosed with CVID, and autoimmune deficiency where her body doesn't make enough antibodies to fight infection. She is going to start IVIG infusions in 2 weeks. One of the main symptoms was the hives she was getting. It is called Cholinergic Urticaria. Her body is sensitive to heat and she would break out in hives when she enters a heated room, gets out of the shower, even eating spicy food or food that is heated. Eating food at room temperature helps. A few times the hives itched but when she gets them, they mainly burn her, and you could feel how hot she gets just to touch her. She has taken different antihistamines, but they quit working. Prednisone did work but you can't take it long term. We went to the health food store and bought Highland Hives. You would not believe how well they work. She needs to take 2 or 3 at a time (lets them melt in her mouth) but it stops the hives instantly. The Highland Hives are about $8.00 for 100 of them. Like I said, they help instantly and work better than any antihistamine, also, there's no side effects. I hope this information helps you. Good Luck!
