Hi all. I haven't posted in a while. But I wanted to let you know that my 9 year old is doing great with the Adderall. We are in week four and the teachers are amazed at how well he is doing now. He finishes his work in class and even has time to start his homework at school. He has gone from having to stay in during special areas and recess to do regular class work to being the star kid for the day.

I have a meeting with his teacher and guidance personel in the morning to discuss summer school. My son is actually looking forward to the extra help with his reading now that he can keep up in class. So chin up to all who think it will never get better. It will take time, but there is a solution for you or your child, whoever it is struggling with this disorder.

Words from a proud Mom!

Congratulations - I am happy for you. How many medications did you have to try before finding the right one? I am on the medication rollercoaster now with my 6 year old. We're only on our second med. right now, but it has been very unpleasant so far. I was glad to read your post today. I needed it! MC

We tried the behavior modifications first with no success. Then we went through several dosages of Strattera with no luck. Then we went to 5 mg of Adderall and slowly increased it each week until we found the perfect dosage for our son. He is at 15mgs a day and it works great.

The doctors have tried to stress to us that this may not always work for him though. Such as when he hits puberty and has all the hormonal changes. But for the moment we are very happy to have the effect we are getting from this med.

It is not easy, but it will work itself out. Just keep faith in the knowledge that you are doing all that can be done.

Hugs from a proud Mom.
