My 15 your old daughter has been on concerta for 3 months now. The 18 mg was taken with no affect. Since going to 36 mg a day all she does is constantly babble with the mouth! And just rambles on and on about nothing. Is this normal or just her? We since put her on prozac. Help....

When you say constantly babble....is it that she has a lot to say...which makes sense but she jumps from one thought to another--or is it nonsense?. My son is very bright and when on Concerta he tried to talk as fast as his mind was racing...much of it made sense but was too much for anyone to process the stream of thoughts. He wouldn't let anyone else talk either. One topic lead to another thought pattern and so it went.
We are trying him on strattera which has stopped the talking problem but I haven't decided if it allows him to focus. He does sleep and eat better
Also why the Prozac?

She sounds just like your son Lasthope. You know what I feel! Prozac is for her extreme PMS http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/mad.gif She has that real bad.

Dear Frybread
The jury is still out...we have been on Strattera for three weeks now(should just be starting to work) with one 15 mg dose of Ritalin in the morning...sort of like jump starting the car. While not perfect school has been fine even during finals...he is sleeping well and eating more.
At times he is edgy but maybe that is just typical 13 yr old boy being nagged by his Mom. At first I thought he was totally in a fog and sort of slow acting but when you go from "constant babble" to occasional silence the swing makes you worry. Will stop the Ritalin in the next week or so when we are out of school. Have to see how the summer music and sports go..if he can do it without anything but Strattera. I really worry about long term side effects..espec those brought up relating to sexual side effects but for right now he is sleeping for the first time in years and less hyper...how much of hyperness is sleep deprivation..who knows. Write anytime.
