My 9yos has ADD. It's just tough for him to focus.

However, my 5yod is showing signs of ADD and she's very impulsive. At least what I would consider impulsive. I was just wondering what your kids do that you would consider impulsive behaviour. And how do you deal with it? If they are doing things because of the ADD it's tough to really punish them if they can't help it. Right? or maybe wrong! lol

Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My 5yr old is very impulsive. It's like she doesn't realize what she's saying or doing or even acting until it's already done. It's soo hard to try and find the right punishment when your kids have ADD or ADHD like mine does. I used to feel guilty whenever she'd do something outragous, almost like I shouldn't even bother trying to do anything because she'll just keep doing it later. But I was told to not let anything that you think is important be forgotten because of the ADD. Yes, sometimes you'll have to sort through and pick your battles, but stick to your rules and punish accordingly with whatever was done on impulse. In time, like with my daughter, after a while she'd learn to control her impulses because she knew I wasn't budging. That's about the best info I can give you without knowing the details. Please feel free to talk to me anytime.
