A few times people have asked here about porn and if it is normal to look at it frequently and such. A frequent response is something to the efrect that porn is normal and healthy, and that there is nothing wrong with it.
I would like to pose the ? in a different way and see what kind of response I get. For those of you who do say that porn is normal and that there is nothing wrong with it. Assume you have an 18 year old daughter and she tells you she's considering starting a career as a porn star. She has some moral concerns about it and is not sure if it is a proper thing to be doing and asks for your advice. Do you give her her the thumbs up and tell her to go for it, saying that porn is normal and healthy and that there is nothing wrong with it? I'm thinking most would say no, but maybe I'm wrong.

I would definitely tell her about the consequences: STDS's, drug use, abuse, etc... I would also ask her 'why' and try to understand her view.
If all else fails, I would lock her up in her room and not let her out until she was 40! hahahahahaah! :D

Ver interesting F-Man...I have to say although I have taken part in looking at porn myself...I would freak out if my daughter said she wanted to do it! I guess at 18 I couldn't really stop her but it would be devestating to me as a mother.
Guess it's only good when you look at from the other point of view!! But good point!!

Ok I am going to give two views on this. Mine and my hubby's...we talked for quite a bit about it.
Myself,I would have to say it that is truly what she wanted to do then I would support her. I know sounds strange but as long as she knows the risks and feels she can handle it then more power to her.
My hubby on the other hand said no way would he support or allow her to do it.

Ok if you put it that way then I would have to ask her if there's any money in it? just jidding. now sereously i would have to tell her that porn is normal to watch and ask her if shes sure she wants hundreds of guys she doesn't know watching her. It's possible perverts or even stockers could be finding out her address and everything. Are you sure you want to go though all that?

F-Man, you have a good point. Many people say its "normal" and "healthy" yet they themselves would not want anything to do with it, unless its from a far away audience perspective. So if being the person IN the porn is wrong, then why is WATCHING it ok? I'll never understand that.

It's still acting, and that career is hardly a career for anyone.
However if you're that hell bent on it...
